Christmas Begins with Christ
2Cor 9:15 “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Isaiah 9:6-7 “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.” Jesus was both God and man. As a child He was born, but as the Son of God He could only be given because He always existed.
Matt 1:18-23
v21 “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for He will save His people from their sins.” v23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, God with us.” 1Tim 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”. His name implies His mission. He was born to die –the innocent for the guilty, read 2Cor 5:21
FIVE CONDITIONS THE SAVIOR HAD TO BE ABLE TO FULFILL TO LEGALLY PAY THE PRICE FOR MANS’ SIN.
1. He had to be a man to represent man. Hebrews 2:5-11
2. He had to be a sinless man, no inherent sin and no acquired sin. 1Peter 1:18-19
3. He must stand before Satan like the first Adam and overcome every temptation
4. He had to be willing to lay down his life as a substitute for us. John 10:18, Matt 26:53
5. He had to be stronger than Satan, so that after He had paid the price for sin, He could strip him of his power and rise from the dead victorious. Rev 1:18
Now! God could legally change mans nature into harmony with His own and give to him the Spirit of life; the life which He had forfeited. Rom 8:2, Acts 1:8
Jesus Christ is the greatest gift anyone could ever receive. Freely receive, freely give! As Jesus came into the world that Christmas day approximately 2025 years ago, so He wants to come into each and everyone of our hearts today. As He is coming again to rule and reign on earth, so he wants to rule and reign in your heart and your life today! Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2Cor 9:15)
